Military Journal Blog - A place to keep updated with the comings and goings of the editor, upcoming projects and events!

December 2007

Hello and welcome to the new look Military Journal, we hope that over the coming months it will grow to be bigger and better than before and of course your feedback and comments are more than welcome. There is only so much that a small independent website can do when covering such a large subject as we do however hopefully our unique approach to the subject will allow us to stand out from the rest. Instead of covering old ground we will aim to bring a fresh approach on familiar events and cover not so familiar ones too.

Earlier this year I read with some interest that the visitor centre at Culloden was due for not just an upgrade but a whole new building to cope with the amount of visitors that keeps growing year after year. The National Trust for Scotland have also done a lot of work on he battlefield itself taking it back to the way it would have looked as the Redcoats and Jacobites faced each other on that sleety April afternoon. From what I have seen online it looks good and I hope to make my first visit to the site sometime next year, it must be the only place in Scotland with such significance on British history that I haven't been too.

Another great piece of news for me was the announcement of the new Total War game, Empire. Rarely has a game got me this excited however since its in the 18th century which happens to be my favourite period I cannot wait. However much to my annoyance some silly bugger posted in a magazine last month that Empire would be released in March 2008, which got be slightly hyped, only to be told by the developers that Q3 2008 is much more realistic.

I also have a new blog (
militaryjournalonline.blogspot.com) this will give me the opportunity to keep you updated with all the latest news instead of updating the website all the time. You can also leave your comments on each of the subjects.
